Looking After Your Voice

Voice Care Tips for Teachers

Our new CPD-accredited Use and Care of Voice for Teachers online course is available now. Designed by an experienced classroom teacher and university lecturer, Use and Care of Voice for Teachers is relevant to educators in any context – from early years and primary schools, to secondary schools, colleges and higher education. We’ve even had interest from church ministers!

Use and Care of Voice for Teachers supports learners in developing their understanding of how the voice is produced, including the importance of breathing and posture. Audibility and vocal variety are explored, along with the importance of non-verbal communication. How to avoid vocal fatigue is a key focus throughout, and the course offers advice on improving vocal care. Optional links and exercises allow learners to personalise their learning journey in response to their own professional development needs.

Beyond simply communicating information, the teacher’s voice is essential to effective classroom presence and this course supports educators in developing their practice and, ultimately, improving learner engagement.
