Echo3 bespoke eLearning – Our approach

eLearning is undoubtably an effective tool helping organisations inform staff to operate in such a way as to reduce risks associated with workplace hazards.

But not all eLearning is created equally.

The level of engagement a learner has with course content is critical in effective knowledge retention and therefore behavioural change.  Just like blockbuster movies high value production can help improve engagement.  However, think of your favourite book.  You find the content engaging through, skilful writing and an interest in the subject matter without there being any investment in visual or audio production.

All our content includes professional graphic design and voice-over.  Where we set ourselves apart is though our writing and projected management.  Consider the table below following early research from 1969.

High production values in your eLearning though investment in the visual and verbal elements may bring your learners to 50% recall after 2 weeks.  To reach 70% and more E.Dale notes ‘Active participation’ is required by the learner through discussion.  We believe by using socratic questioning techniques 70%+ can be achieve through internal as well external discussions.

Does your current eLearning  use drag and drop scenarios to prompt participation?  Do you think this is sufficient.   At Echo3 we don’t.

In all the eLearning we develop our instructional designers use the socratic method to foster participation with the content.  Socratic questions are used to initially prime the brain for learning by uncovering pre-existing assumptions to gain the interest of the learner.  Throughout Socratic questions also help learners analyze concepts, visualise learning objectives and distinguish what they know from what they don’t.

Using this approach we can create effective, intrinsically interesting elearning experiences that fit your budget.
